Wanna Buy Stuff?

See, one of the things I do when my brain is otherwise engaged is crochet. And knit too, yes, I go through cycles, I'll knit a bunch, then I'll switch over to crochet.
So of course I joined Ravelry, and because of that I found Designing Vashti, where you can buy patterns by Vashti Braha and Doris Chan. So I saw a couple of necklace patterns, and I thought, "Self, you've never worked with beads and crochet, you should get a pattern and check out the techniques."
So I did. And I never have made the pattern, because I did an exploratory bch, and then I just kept bch-ing and next thing I knew I had a dozen necklaces on my hands.
You can see some of them at my Etsy shop. Which is called "hautdesert" because that was the name I chose when I signed up so I could buy something. No real marketing thought behind it, I never expected to have anything to sell. Heck, my photography skills could be better too. Probably will be before I'm done!
I'm proudest of my latest creation, a blue and gold necklace with a pendant inscribed in Sumerian.
Yes. I have spent the last couple of (fortunately fairly rainy) afternoons teaching myself to write in cuneiform. I have several pendants waiting for necklaces yet, and an exploratory pair of "dingir" earrings that aren't fit to sell, but they were more proof-of-concept than anything else, so that's all right.
