Not cool.

Bad morning for Paidhi Girl, who, when things don't go exactly the way she wants them to, sits down and screams and refuses to remain sitting but also refuses to do anything else, and screams some more to let everyone know about it. And she's a determined creature--those folks who advise just ignoring small children when they have tantrums haven't met her. She can scream at the top of her lungs for hours. I'm not exaggerating--I've timed her more than once. This is very bad for Mama's patience, even when we're at home and I can put her in her room and close the door. We now can't go to the pool this afternoon, since that was the consequence of the behavior.

Did I mention that it's really, really hot today? And I can't leave Paidhi Girl here by herself and take Paidhi Boy (who is innocent of any wrongdoing--so far) to the pool? I'll be lucky if I'm not a bundle of frayed nerves by the time Mr. Cameron gets home.

Oh, and then there's waiting for the mail. I'm figuring I should see my SASE by Saturday, if JJA is operating with his usual efficiency. But I can't help thinking that it might take however many days for the ms to get there, and if, as seems likely from anecdotes I've run across, he turns the slush over the same day it comes in, why, theoretically, possibly, I might actually see my SASE, let's see now....well, today. I'm assuming a quick rejection, since that's less painful when it actually happens that way. Or so I think.

I'm distracting myself by doing surgery on musicians' bios. That's dull work, though. I tried to go over Dark Abyss yesterday and make some revisions, but it was hard to concentrate with soaking wet kids running in and out of the kitchen. There was mud and grass everywhere, and then the neighbor girl ended up staying for supper, and then....

Well, anyway, I really need to finish a percentage of this already-bought writing, dull as it is, before I can go back to DA. I finished all the boring paperwork yesterday. So back to reviews and bios I go....

Any innovative, New Music practitioners reading this, listen up.

Learn to use the damn shift key. I don't care how much of an improvisatory musical genius you are, when you give me publicity information that includes long, long lists of people you've performed with don't send it to me ALL IN FREAKING LOWER CASE! You may have a fine disdain for convention, but I have to send this crap out to people who expect me to be able to present this information professionally.

Thank you, that will be all.
