Odd Experience
Jun. 25th, 2004 08:06 pmSo we got new cellphones awhile ago. We'd had phones for six or seven years, on the theory that while I was pregnant or dealing with small kids it would be wise to have one in case of emergency. So they were old (in cell phone terms). And I wanted one that would fold up, and do text messaging.
Anyway, we didn't roll our old numbers over. So Mr. Cameron keeps getting these calls from people who speak Spanish, and when he tells them (in English) that it's a wrong number they talk more and faster--in Spanish. Mr Cameron doesn't speak any Spanish.
I speak a little. So twice now in the past few weeks I've answered his phone and heard Spanish, and told the caller, in Spanish, that it was a wrong number. They promptly and politely replied in English. Maybe it's just luck, but still I wonder, if I'd spoken English, would they have just kept on in Spanish?
