So this is entry number two.
What a day this has been! Instead of doing any writing, I spent the morning finishing up the Christmas shopping. Now that's done, and I hope to get tomorrow and Wednesday morning free to pull out the laptop and get plugging away. I had some great advice from my critters over the past month, though a few are still coming in, and it's clear that the novel, although decently written, needs some work. I've been meditating on it, and I think I see the way through the trouble. When I'd sat down to write it, I had a sort of vague outline--not really an outline, you understand, more a list of major points I wanted to hit along the way. One of them really needed to go, which became increasingly clear as I wrote, but since I didn't know what else to do I forced it in, and everything from about that point on just kind of goes all to hell.
So. It's out, and those chapters will have to be re-written. I'm only just now getting to that point in the revisions, though. I'd meant to work on it much more regularly, but when there are mailings for work that suddenly no one else can print and sort even though it's not really my job this year, and when kids come down with the flu, the time just kind of isn't there. Fortunately, the mailing is out, Paidhi Boy is feeling better, and I have a clearer idea of where I need to go.
Right now, I'm testing the client I downloaded that lets me manage my LJ account. I wish LJ had gone free a few months earlier, when I was first thinking about setting up a blog/journal--I've already got a page through Blogger, which I like, but they don't have the community stuff, which seems cool. It's under my other nomme de internet, too, which I use on pretty much every other board besides the SDMB. I really ought to change my SDMB username to match it, one of these days.
