ann_leckieGah. I've got a caffeine headache. Not enough coffee/tea yesterday, yeah, that'll do it. I've got housework to do. I hate cleaning. I've got actual paid work stuff to do--mailing out form letters, a few contracts, and then actual, paid writing. Of course, it's the kind of writing I find hardest--writing about music, for PR purposes.
I haven't had a chance to do any fiction since Saturday. Yesterday was kids running in and out of the house all day, then a trip to the pool until it closed and temper tantrums all around because everyone was tired. You know, one of those days.
On the good side (or sort of, from the right point of view), I mopped the floor with a nasty suite of adware and trojans Mr. Cameron managed to pick up. He complained that he was getting lots of popups. I took a look, and sure enough he was--even when IE wasn't open. Yes, I've told him over and over again not to use IE, but he won't listen, so what else can I do?
Anyway, after a long session with brand-spanking-new anti-virus software (yes, he was running without anti-virus software. "I've been using IE for years with no AV, and I've never had a virus, so I don't need to worry." He was surprised when I told him about the three different trojans I found. But anyway...) Where was I? Oh, yes. After a long session with av software, HijackThis, CWShredder, Adaware and Spybot, lots of reboots and scans and googling to be sure I wasn't deleting anything that would crash the computer, Mr. Cameron's computer is now trojan and adware free. For the moment. I told him not to uninstall his AV, on pain of pain.
Those things are hard to get rid of! And I was proud of myself that I'd managed to do it. Yay, me!
Ugh. I need some ibuprofen, and more coffee. And I need to stop futzing around and get my paid work done. I wonder if I can use the paid work to procrastinate on the dishes...it might work.
