Conversation of the day
Oct. 14th, 2007 09:03 amPaidhi Girl has been working with Scratch. She found a tab called "variables" and wondered what that meant and how to use it. I tried to explain the idea as best I could, but it was entirely opaque to her. "You play with it," I told her finally. "Look at the samples that came with Scratch. You'll figure it out."
Not long afterwards:
Paidhi Girl:"I've figured out what the variables do in Scratch!"
Me: "Good! I knew you'd do it."
Paidhi Boy: "What's a variable?"
Paidhi Girl: "Oh, it's this thing in Scratch."
(So we talked about variables a bit. It made a lot more sense to her this time around.)
