Wah! What a week. I haven't been able to do any writing for nearly the whole week, between NMC stuff and family/kid stuff. Very frustrating. Saturday was violin concert, and my usual Sunday writing time was taken up with the violin lesson that's usually on Saturday and was moved to Sunday. Monday--concert. It worked out well, better than I was expecting, although a bit odd. It's a new venue for us, and also, it turns out, the first time the owner had used the place. The musicians were dubious (the stage is very, very small), the president of the board was worried that somehow the mention in the RFT would bring hundreds of people to the concert (our average audience is about 40), the venue owner was worried about how things would go because he'd never done this before, etc. Then on Sunday a woman called to say she was friends with one of the musicians and it was his birthday, could she bring a sheet cake?

Well, sure. So I turn up at the venue Monday evening and find that someone has set up recording equipment. Now, that's usually my job, and the equipment lives with me. I was pretty sure the musicians hadn't brought anything but their saxes. What the heck? Turned out, the lady with the cake also brought a husband with recording equipment. Okay, so she mentioned the cake but not the mixer, DAT, and four mics? Or the video camera? I'm still shaking my head over that.

Anyway, I didn't have to set up any equipment, so that was fine. But the concert went late, and then the cake came out at the end, so people hung around.

Tuesday I was exhausted and had errands to run, so no writing for me. Today I had a meeting with the events coordinator at a local museum. She's new to the position, and so we met so she'd know who NMC was, and we could talk about booking concerts in the future.

I'm not sure what's up tomorrow, but Friday I have to take Paidhi Boy for an assessment (he's behind on speech, we're going to see if he qualifies for, say, free speech therapy or something). Saturday--violin lesson day, and in the afternoon is a tea party for Paidhi Boy's school. This week is a complete loss, writing-wise.

Oh, and then there was the computer disaster. Somehow I managed to lock everyone out of my computer, even Administrator. So Sunday night we had to re-install Windows 2000, and then try to pull files off the old hard drive with a USB cable. Eventually it worked, and I spent most of Monday morning and afternoon trying to figure out how to import all my old mail back into Opera. Eventually I managed it, though I'll have to redo all my filters. Aaaargh! But I managed to find my contacts and my bookmarks, and even recovered my Palm stuff--I had entered appointments and contacts into the desktop and not hotsynced yet. But, thank goodness, I fixed that. There are still a few things to re-install, and I'm not done filtering the email, so it's kind of a mess, but I'm beginning to recover.

Oh, well, I'm off to pick up Paidhi Girl, who's on early dismissal today. Paidhi Boy is staying late at nursery school, I don't need to get him until 2:30. What luxury!
