Well. Rejection from Sword and Sorceress, but a nice one, after a re-write request and a hold for further consideration, so no real sting. Also, the same story (with a different title, posted before I subbed) is editors choice this month on the Online Writing Workshop, which was my squee for the weekend.
I have reverted to the pre-S&S re-write version, with some amendments based on the review, and sent it off to it's next market.
And I got a hold notice from Postcards from Hell, too, for "Footprints." Which is the first non-weird response I've gotten for that piece. I don't mean to disparage the editors who gave odd responses so far--it's an odd little story, and clearly there's something there some readers aren't getting. But I'm standing my ground, with all due respect.

What American accent do you have?

Midland. The Midland (please don't confuse with "Midwest") itself is the neutral zone between the North and South. But just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from there. Since it is considered a neutral, default, "non-regional" accent you could easily be from someplace without its own accent, like Florida, or a big city in the South like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta.
